Tog trip

I'm up for this one! anybody else up for Whitby Gothic festival 28-31Oct, which falls on halloween weekend . Lots of chances for some good photography, nice portraits, spooky characters, ghost walks etc. If your not into that stuff it's a nice seaside town also great for some gen photog

I don't think they do day tickets to the festival,I have seen it advertised at two days for £40.00.This also includes lots of bands but there's no need to visit the festival as most of the goths visit and walk around whitby town anyway

Ralph said he'd like to go

Have a think about it and let me know?see links below

5 of us went to the Shakerstone Festival yesterday in the search of some comp images. A great place for photography, the whole festival was excellent with to many events to mention + steam railway and canal boats. To top the day off a superb 1/2  hour display from the Red Arrows,an awesome display. Great day out with a great bunch of friends. thanks to pip for recommending the place some months ago and thanks to the Gaffer for suggesting the day out.

Best £15 I've spent for a while,on a diet this week spent £15 on junk food around the show

Here's a few samples from the Arrows

Waterfront at Night

Just to add to our visit to the waterfront last night, here are a few shots that I took of the place a couple of years ago. We didn't really have much time last night to concentrate on the night stuff so I don't have any night shots
These shots were taken around the December time when the place was frozen over which produced some really lovely reflections. I spent a few hours on the night to achieve the disired results, all taken with vey long exposures up to 30 secs.

Some of the lighting was a little overexposed,(a typical problem with this kind of photography and long exposures) so I took down the intensity of the highlights in Photoshop.

Let me know if you want to do any of this kind of photography.I'm always up for a night out

Hi Togs

Well we've finally done it!booked a dirty weekend down in London. Eric wants to show me his 5d. He said something about 70-200 mm,some kind of attachment on it,he said.

Anyway we're going down for a tog trip for 3 days in August. Your all welcome to join us even if you want to come down just for a day. I can't post the dates on line for obvious reasons but text  either of us if you want to come along or find out details and dates.

A great chance to get some really good tog shots for your competitions and exhibitions

Ec and I should be going along to Barton Marina this Thurs for the BPS tog night, come on down for a beer and a natter, we could even pull in some photography! Anybody need a lift give us a shout!

Photog trip this Sunday and my new Macro Lens

Hi blogtogs

Above a photo of my new macro lens, wicked, great for photographing ants and stuff !!

BPS are running a photog dayout this sunday to the the "Roaches" an area north of Leek in peak district. It's about 40 miles, and they say some good photographic opportunities. Packed lunch and walking boots advised. Meet at the Priory Centre,Stretton at 9 am and returning about 4pm

Eric and myself are going along and I have a couple of spaces left in my car. Eric and I may be stopping later than 4pm and will hope to do some evening photography when the light will be better. If anybody wants to come back at 4pm I suggest taking their own car

The weather forecast for Sunday is quite warm with a good amount of cloud, I will be monitoring this situation. If the cloud cover is forecast for the whole day we may pull out

Text me if you are interested

Photog Quals

C and G Quals and Diplomas

Mr Steve is enquiring  to see what courses photog students would like to study in September.

Jim and myself have been chatting and have found these courses on the C and G site(see link at bottom of blog)

There are two Diplomas amongst these courses, one at level 3 and one at level 4. The level 3 diploma is shown below. Jim and I would like to study for this qual as you only need to complete 6 modules. All of our old level 3 class have already completed 3 of these 6 modules (306,307 and 211) so we would only need to complete 3 more additional modules to achieve this diploma

You can also view the more advanced diploma at level 4,but this qual needs 12 completed modules

If anybody is interested in this qual or others from the site we can ask Mr Steve or Chris Beech if they can put them on,please let me know your thoughts?
