Photog trip this Sunday and my new Macro Lens
Hi blogtogs
Eric and myself are going along and I have a couple of spaces left in my car. Eric and I may be stopping later than 4pm and will hope to do some evening photography when the light will be better. If anybody wants to come back at 4pm I suggest taking their own car
The weather forecast for Sunday is quite warm with a good amount of cloud, I will be monitoring this situation. If the cloud cover is forecast for the whole day we may pull out

BPS are running a photog dayout this sunday to the the "Roaches" an area north of Leek in peak district. It's about 40 miles, and they say some good photographic opportunities. Packed lunch and walking boots advised. Meet at the Priory Centre,Stretton at 9 am and returning about 4pm

Photog Quals
C and G Quals and Diplomas
Mr Steve is enquiring to see what courses photog students would like to study in September.
Jim and myself have been chatting and have found these courses on the C and G site(see link at bottom of blog)
There are two Diplomas amongst these courses,one at level 3 and one at level 4. The level 3 diploma is shown below. Jim and I would like to study for this qual as you only need to complete 6 modules. All of our old level 3 class have already completed 3 of these 6 modules (306,307 and 211) so we would only need to complete 3 more additional modules to achieve this diploma
You can also view the more advanced diploma at level 4,but this qual needs 12 completed modules
If anybody is interested in this qual or others from the site we can ask Mr Steve or Chris Beech if they can put them on,please let me know your thoughts?

Blog 35 Sources of Inspiration

I am having difficulty finding specific photographers who have produced low key photography/portraits that relate to my subject.

Photog day out Sat 10th July
Saturday Tog Trip
We have been planning a day out this Saturday 10th of July and the general consensus was to meet about 1pm to spend the afternoon and evening at a location to be decided. We have included the evening in the trip as this allows for better photography with better lighting conditions as opposed to a morning start when the light is to intense with the sun over head.
We could have pub grub early in the evening and possibly move to 1 or 2 locations.
Eric Jim and myself are all ready to go with batteries fully charged,we need to know definites straight away to organise travel arrangements
Pip has suggested some local sites (Shackerstone canal, boats, railway, bridges) sounds good!!or there is stratford upon Avon or Birmingham city centre and the canals,all not to far away. or anywhere else not to faraway if anybody else has got any ideas
The weather forecast is getting warmer,so beer money essential,ya best shorts and some film in them old Nikons!! A sense of humour is imperative!!

Wed evening at Alrewas
The Alrewas Memorial arboretum is open this Wed late until 10pm,it normally closes at 5pm. A great opportunity to get some nice late night photography around this large site. A lot of interesting sculptor's, monuments, silhouettes and sunsets,beautiful flower meadows etc. Eric is definitely going,ring Eric for meeting time

Shown below are my final 10 images that I have chosen for my second subject "Motion Blur". I have tried to vary the subjects and show the different effects of using different shutter speeds.
A challenging topic but well worth it. I have learnt a considerable amount of photogrphic skills while studying this topic. It has definightly broadened my horizons of this subject and the amount of knowledge that I have acquired is priceless

The Museums (Research and inspiration)
London Museums (Under construction)
While visiting London on a photography trip day out, I wanted to visit some of the famous museums in and around the capital.l have visited these museums many times and know that they are a great source for ideas and inspiration for artists and photographers alike.London is so vast with so many museums, shown on these pages are just some of the mueums that I visited on the day.
I headed for the Natural History Museum where I intended taking some motion blur shots because I knew there would be lots of people milling around with creates lots of movement.
I have included some of my images taken on the day to suppliment my course work
The Natural History Museum
These images were taken inside the National history museum a great place for inspiration and ideas. I found this the ideal location to try out some motion blur shots for experimetation for my course work.
My second subject on this course is motion blur so I tried some different shots with long exposures
Using my camera fixed on a tripod I wanted to use the natural light of the museum whch would reflect some of the natural charm and ambience of the building. I din't need an high ISO as my camera was mounted on a tripod and I wanted to keep the ISO as low as possible for clarity purposes.I didnt want to use a flash as this would have frozen my subjects and not created any motion blur,this would also have killed the lighting abience of the building. These were only experimental shots but have contributed to developing my skills and knowledge to produce this type of photography for my subjects

The British Museum
I was inspired by this museum where I found a lot of inspiration which influened me to think about the different elements of photography these included: Lines,shapes,form,patterns,shadows,light and coposition. Shown below are some of my images from the day. I changed the first image to mono to vary my end results which I think has quite a pleasing effect

Royal Victoria and Albert Museum
This is a wonderful museum to visit and I would definitely recommend it to any photographer or artist visiting the capital. You could spend a whole day in this museum,it is crammed full ofdifferent art,treasures photography and fashion
There were numerous artists on the day sketching away,copying different sculptures and statues. There is a whole floor dedicated to photography.......................................................... not finished

Underground Stations
Other places I found of interest for motion blur shots were underground stations.Shown here are some of my colleagues Suzy and Pip as we waited for trains on the London underground
They hadn't a clue they were being used as models. Using a slow shutter speed of 1/30 of a sec allowed me to blur the backgroud because people were actually in motion as they walked by. My two colleagues were practically stationary allowing the forground to stay in focus because there was little movement.
London Streets
Shown below are some more images from our day out in London. I was particularly interested with creating some long timed exposures especially at night time. I wanted to create images which would show motion blur. Shown again in my images are some of the elements that make up photography,these included: colour,reflections,motion,lines form and texture.
